Beginner-Friendly Convertible Bag with Customization Options

The Sewgnar Paradigm Crossbody Bag Paper Pattern is a petite yet surprisingly roomy bag that’s perfect for confident beginners. This versatile bag converts from a crossbody to a clutch, making it ideal for day-to-night wear or travel.

Designed with four different customization options, this pattern features one main open pouch and a convenient back zipper pocket. The simple flat-lay construction makes it great for experimenting with appliqué, color blocking, or fussy cutting. A minimal hardware requirement makes this a great entry point for sewists new to bag-making or working with zippers.

The Paradigm Bag is designed for cork, vinyl, thin leather, or kraftex, but with additional interfacing, it can also be adapted for all-cotton fabric. Full step-by-step instructions are included, with both imperial and metric measurements, and a full sewalong video is available to guide you through each stage.

Big Giant Quilted Bow by Lindsey Grace Creates Using the Gingerbread Lane collection by Kiley Ferons for Moda Fabrics, she created the patchwork front with two Charm Packs, giving the bow a beautiful mix of coordinating Christmas prints without having to cut into lots of different yardage. For the reverse/lining, Suzanne used 1½ yards of Ornaments Sugar from the same Gingerbread Lane collection. She added fusible fleece to both the exterior and lining for extra body, softness, and structure so the oversized bow holds its shape beautifully. To make it easy to display, she added a 1½” gate ring at the top, perfect for hanging the finished bow on a door.
