Required Materials
- 3/4 yd for bag exterior
- 1 roll of vinyl for straps (2 if making crossbody straps)
- 1 yard of fabric for lining
- 1 hardwre kit
- 1 yard of zipper tape and 2 zipper pulls
Required Interfacing:
- 2 1/2 yd of SF101 for cotton pieces
- 1 1/4 yd of Decovil Light for exterior
- 1/4 yd of Decovil Heavy for base
Interfacing Recommendations
The Passion Flower Tote pattern offers the option of using either fusible fleece or foam stabilizer. For a more structured, professional finish without unnecessary bulk, I recommend the following:
- Exterior Fabric: Use Decovil Light for excellent body and stability while maintaining a crisp, clean appearance.
- Base: Use Decovil Heavy to give the base additional firmness and help the tote hold its shape.
When using cotton fabrics for the exterior, first apply SF101 Shape-Flex to all exterior pieces before fusing the Decovil Light. The adhesive on Decovil Light is quite strong and can sometimes cause cotton fabrics to wrinkle or distort when applied directly. The layer of SF101 creates a smoother foundation and helps prevent this.
For all cotton lining pieces, I also recommend applying SF101 Shape-Flex. This adds durability, reduces stretching, and gives the finished bag a more polished, long-lasting interior.
