My Handmade Space was founded by Anabelle and is lovingly managed by her and her husband, Jorge. As a small, family-run business, we are passionate about providing high-quality sewing supplies, with a special focus on bag-making. Over time, we have expanded our offerings to include quilting supplies, growing alongside our incredible community of makers.
Our journey began in 2017 when we launched our Etsy store, followed by our own website in 2018. For years, we operated out of our basement, steadily building our business with the unwavering support of our amazing customers. In May 2022, we moved into a dedicated warehouse, and just a few months later, in September, we proudly opened our storefront. In January 2023, we took another exciting step by launching our sewing studio, a welcoming space for creativity, learning, and connection.
At the heart of My Handmade Space is our dedicated team. Jorge, Yaritza, Lee, Brian, and Claribel ensure that every order is carefully packaged and fulfilled, delivering the best possible experience to our customers. Meanwhile, Suzanne, Emily, and Anabelle lead our Sew Socials and classes, sharing their love of sewing and expertise with our growing community.
As a true family business, our four children have been part of the My Handmade Space journey, lending a hand and supporting us along the way. Their involvement over the years has played a special role in shaping our business and the community we’ve built.
Today, Adiamis is a physical therapist, Adianne is a biomedical engineer, Divier is a student-athlete and gymnast at Stanford University, and Cristian is pursuing a career as a professional performer, currently performing aboard Virgin Voyages’ Valiant Lady.
Although their own careers and adventures have taken them in different directions, they continue to be an important part of our family and the story behind My Handmade Space.
When we’re not busy with the business, we love to travel, cheer at Divier’s gymnastics meets, and watch Cristian’s performances.
